I ordered this GPS logger just prior to taking a vacation. Unfortunately, when it arrived it did not work. I double checked the batteries were in the correct directions, and I tried three different sets of batteries. Unfortunately, nothing would get the LEDs to come on indicating the logger was functioning. Oddly enough, when I connected it via USB to my laptop, I was able to read and write data to the device as a removable drive.

  2. I purchased this item based on the ratings. After a trip to a remote location that it was vital to get the GPS coordinates, I found out I could not download the data. It would not register on a PC or Mac, and my IT specialist couldn’t get it to read either. Reluctantly I reset it as directed by the manual, and again it does not register. If you really need important data, buy something else.

Poor design. Power button doesn’t respond unless you hold it down for a while. I could live with that.

Deal killer, though, was that the USB data port can’t be used when the included strap is in place. You have to remove the strap first. It is velcro and, of course, velcro tends to get all gunked up and stopped working when used often.

    Unacceptably dumb. Returned.

The first unit I received never worked. The three LEDs on the device continually blinked. Tech support in Taiwan couldn’t help. Second unit came, and it struggled to acquire a signal. All in all, poor product.

Since N. Gupta’s review it appears that the manufacturer has diagnosed and corrected the problem he/she was seeing. (As of 19 December 2007 the units being shipped are good.) I have no personal experience with the device, but see here: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=98383
